Energy Minister Shrestha Highlights Critical Role of Skilled Engineers in Driving Nepal's Prosperity and Infrastructure Development

Kathmandu, Nepal – Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, has underscored the indispensable role of skilled, honest, and responsible engineers in shaping Nepal's national prosperity, accelerating infrastructure development, and enhancing the quality of public services. Speaking at a training program for newly inducted young engineers organized by the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat's Water Resources and Energy Research Centre, Minister Shrestha emphasized that entering government service transcends merely securing a job; it represents a profound historical opportunity to dedicate oneself to the ambitious national building campaign.

Minister Shrestha articulated that these new entrants are not just technical personnel but have transitioned into the crucial role of public servants. He stressed that every decision, technical recommendation, signature, and action they undertake will directly impact the lives of millions of citizens. This necessitates an exceptionally high sense of responsibility and unwavering commitment to their duties. He further elaborated that the trajectory of any nation's development, its civilization, and its journey towards prosperity are intrinsically linked to the creativity, rigorous research, disciplined approach, and tireless efforts of its engineers. He cited numerous examples, including the construction of vital roads, robust bridges, expansive hydropower projects, critical transmission lines, essential reservoirs, efficient irrigation systems, fundamental drinking water infrastructure, modern industrial structures, and the development of contemporary urban centers, all as direct outcomes of engineers' foresight and capabilities.
