Nepali stock investors no longer need to freeze their busy workdays between 11 AM and 3 PM to trade shares. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has introduced the After Market Order (AMO) feature on its online Trade Management System (TMS), allowing investors to set up their buy and sell requests anytime outside standard trading hours. This new feature gives users the freedom to set a specific price limit within 15% above or below the previous day’s final closing price. When the market prepares to open the next morning, any order that falls within 3% of the early opening price gets automatically forwarded into the active trading system. To protect investors and ensure fair trading, the system automatically runs balance and stock checks before forwarding any order. It verifies that buyers have sufficient cash deposited in their trading account and ensures sellers actually hold the requested shares in their digital share account (Demat). Every off hour request remains valid for a single trading day; if the market closes without executing the trade, the order is automatically cancelled. This rollout is a major relief for full time employees, business owners, and non resident Nepalis working across different time zones who usually miss out on daytime trading. However, traders should note that modifying or cancelling an order once submitted through this off hour system can still be a bit tricky, so double a checking your entry prices before hitting submit is key.
