The 'Naima Nepal Mobility Expo 2026', a pivotal event for Nepal's automotive sector, successfully concluded today at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, marking an unprecedented turnout and enthusiastic public engagement. Organized by the Nepal Automobiles Importers and Manufacturers Association (Naima), the six-day exhibition, which commenced on Shrawan 26 (August 11), significantly surpassed its visitor expectations, underscoring a vibrant and evolving automotive market in the country.

By the fifth day of the expo, the total number of visitors had already exceeded 150,000, a figure that Naima had initially projected for the entire six-day duration. This remarkable achievement highlights the growing consumer interest and demand within Nepal's vehicle market. The penultimate day alone, Saturday, witnessed an impressive footfall of over 42,000 individuals, contributing significantly to the overall count. Daily visitor statistics further illustrate this consistent enthusiasm: 29,000 on the first day, 26,000 on the second, 22,000 on the third, and 31,000 on the fourth day. The cumulative figure, bolstered by the strong performance on the fifth day, firmly established the expo as a major draw.

Gaurav Sharda, Chairman of the Auto Show Planning Committee, expressed immense satisfaction with the overwhelming response. "The participation of more visitors than anticipated is incredibly encouraging for the expo," Sharda stated, emphasizing the significant public interest and attraction towards the event. This sentiment reflects a broader trend of increasing consumer confidence and a desire to explore the latest advancements in mobility solutions, which is a positive indicator for the industry's future growth and investment potential.

The expo served as a comprehensive platform, showcasing an extensive array of vehicles from over 55 brands. Attendees had the opportunity to explore a diverse range of models, including conventional petroleum-powered vehicles, hybrid options, and a notable emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs). Many participating companies seized the opportunity to launch new models and introduce attractive special discounts and offers, further stimulating consumer interest and potential sales. The strategic display of various powertrain technologies catered to a wide spectrum of consumer preferences and emerging market trends, indicating a dynamic shift in consumer choices.

Beyond just vehicle displays, visitors demonstrated a keen interest in the broader ecosystem of electric mobility. Inquiries about EV batteries, motor technologies, range capabilities, charging infrastructure, and crucial after-sales services were prominent. This indicates a maturing market where consumers are not only interested in purchasing EVs but are also concerned about the practical aspects of ownership and long-term viability. For investors, this signals a growing demand not just for EVs themselves, but also for ancillary services and infrastructure development, presenting lucrative opportunities in charging stations, battery manufacturing, and specialized service centers, all of which are critical for the sustainable growth of the EV market in Nepal.

The success of the Naima Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 is a strong indicator of the resilience and potential of Nepal's automotive sector. It reflects a dynamic market driven by evolving consumer preferences, technological advancements, and a growing awareness of sustainable transportation solutions. For investors, the robust attendance and keen interest in new technologies, particularly EVs, suggest a fertile ground for capital deployment in manufacturing, import, distribution, and the development of supporting infrastructure. The expo's ability to exceed its targets underscores a positive outlook for the industry, promising continued growth and innovation in the years to come. The organizers' expectation of continued significant participation on the final day further solidifies the event's success and its impact on shaping future mobility trends in Nepal.
