The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) concluded the trading week on a notably positive trajectory, with its benchmark index registering a commendable gain of over 2%. This upward momentum signals a renewed, albeit cautious, optimism among investors, reflecting a generally bullish sentiment across the market. The NEPSE index closed at 2734.60 points, marking a significant increase of 57.06 points, or 2.13%, from its previous week's closing of 2677.54 points. This robust weekly performance saw the market open for five trading days, with the index advancing on four of those days and experiencing a decline on just one, indicating a strong underlying positive sentiment for the majority of the trading period.

Beyond the headline index, other key market indicators also reflected this positive trend. The Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of 'A' class companies, rose by 5.09 points, underscoring strength in the blue-chip segment. Similarly, the Float Index, representing the performance of freely traded shares, increased by 3.37 points, and the Sensitive Float Index saw a gain of 1.97 points. These movements suggest a broad-based improvement across various segments of the market, including both large-cap and more liquid stocks, providing a comprehensive view of the market's health.

Despite the impressive index gains, the market observed a slight dip in overall trading turnover this week. The daily average turnover decreased to NPR 5.66 billion, a 2.95% reduction compared to the previous week's daily average of NPR 5.83 billion. This decline in value traded, however, was accompanied by a notable increase in the daily average number of transactions, which surged by 34.97%. Conversely, the daily average share quantity traded decreased by 29.40%. This divergence suggests a potential shift towards smaller, more frequent trades, possibly indicating increased participation from retail investors or a more fragmented trading pattern across various scrips, rather than large institutional block deals, which often drive higher turnover.

One of the most significant highlights of the week was the substantial growth in NEPSE's total market capitalization, which expanded by over 2%. From NPR 46 trillion at the close of the previous week, the market capitalization surged by NPR 99 billion, reaching an impressive NPR 46.99 trillion. This expansion in market wealth is a crucial indicator of investor confidence and the overall health of the economy, reflecting the increased valuation of listed companies and the inflow of capital into the market.

An analysis of the thirteen sub-indices reveals a predominantly positive picture, with eleven out of thirteen sectors registering gains, while only two experienced declines. The Manufacturing and Processing sector emerged as the top performer, witnessing a remarkable increase of 4.11%. Its index climbed by 436.32 points to close at 11049.18 points, indicating robust investor interest and potentially strong fundamentals within this sector. The Trading sector also saw an increase, albeit a modest 0.43%, closing at 4715.96 points, up by 20.33 points. On the other hand, the Investment sector recorded the smallest point-wise gain, rising by just 1.40 points, suggesting a more subdued performance in this diversified segment.

Conversely, the Mutual Fund sector experienced the steepest decline, falling by 2.35%. In terms of absolute points, the Non-Life Insurance sector saw the most significant drop, decreasing by 34.41 points. These sectoral performances highlight the diverse dynamics at play within the market, where specific sectors might be facing headwinds or undergoing corrections despite the broader market's upward trend, emphasizing the importance of sector-specific analysis.

Individual stock performances also presented some dramatic movements. Everest Color led the pack of gainers with an astounding 101.02% increase in its share price, closing at NPR 651 from NPR 323.90 last week. This exceptional surge indicates strong speculative interest or significant positive news surrounding the company. Shangrila Development Bank and Snow Rivers also posted impressive gains of approximately 27% and 22% respectively. On the losing side, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower saw its share price decline by 12.06%, making it the top loser for the week.

Floorsheet analysis, which provides insights into buying and selling patterns, showed NMB Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Nepal SBI Bank, and IGI Prudential Insurance Company as the most popular buy stocks. This suggests strong investor accumulation in these particular scrips, potentially driven by positive outlooks or recent corporate developments. Conversely, Makar Jitumaya Suri Hydropower, Shwet Ganga Hydropower & Construction, and Modi Energy were identified as the most popular sell stocks, indicating profit-taking or a shift in investor preference away from these companies.

Overall, the week's trading activity on NEPSE painted a picture of a resilient market, characterized by significant index appreciation and growing market capitalization, even as trading volumes saw a slight reduction. The varied performance across sub-indices and individual stocks underscores the importance of selective investment strategies in a dynamic market environment, where opportunities and risks are constantly evolving.
